Do I have to make an investment choice?

If you don’t make an investment choice your Marketlink account balance will be automatically invested in the default option – Growth. For all other membership types to which investment choice applies, you must make an investment choice at the commencement of membership.

Can I split my money between options?

Yes, you can split your account balance between the six investment options in any proportion you choose.  The proportions you elect must be in whole percentages and total 100%. You can also choose how any future contributions paid into your account should be invested. If you wish, your future contributions could be invested in the same way as your existing account balance or directed to completely different option(s). If you don’t make a selection on your future contributions they will automatically be invested in the same way your existing account balance is invested.

Can I change my investment choice?

Yes, you can change your investment choice at any time – and there are no investment switching fees.  Download a form from Forms and Documents. Alternatively you can contact Local Super and we will send you a form. An investment switch will generally be processed within 3 business days of the Administrator receiving full and complete information to complete the transaction.  The unit price allocated will be the one that applies to date the switch is processed.

Are returns guaranteed?

No. While each option has set target returns, actual performance can’t be guaranteed. However, we think that these targets are reasonable and achievable and we will review the appointment of any investment manager who fails to reach our targets.

What is socially responsible investment?

Socially responsible investing (SRI) refers to a style of investing in companies that promotes sustainable development with respect to the environment as well as issues of social responsibility. At Local Super we understand that many people feel better knowing that their super is invested according to their personal values. Therefore, we have an Australian Sustainable shares component in our Growth, Conservative and Australian shares options as well as a Sustainable shares option that takes into account labour standards, ethical, social and environmental issues, in addition to financial goals. The Sustainable shares option also has investments in overseas shares.

Since 1 July 2007, the investment options comprising Sustainable shares invested in the following* :
